Trouble In Paradise? The Fight Between Kraken Lawyer Jenna Ellis and RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel

The Fight

Jenna Ellis, one of Donald Trump's Kraken lawyers, may have said the quiet part out loud. Look at this tweet. Then read the Business Insider article attached to it.

Here is the beginning of the Business Insider article.

Last November, Trump campaign lawyer Jenna Ellis received an email that forwarded a note from Republican National Committee (RNC) chief counsel Justin Riemer, with the GOP official questioning the former president's election claims, according to a forthcoming book by Michael Wolff.

In the note, Riemer reportedly wrote to his RNC colleagues asking why they were backing Trump's unfounded claims of election fraud, while also expressing that the organization raised more cash battling Democrats than challenging election results.

Ellis, who was having dinner with Rudy Giuliani and former New York City police commissioner Bernie Kerik, passed her phone around for everyone to view the message, which reportedly left them "stunned."

According to the article, Riemer's email precipitated a rift between Ellis, Giuliani, and Kerick on one side, and RNC chair Ronna McDaniel on the other. The Business Insider article reports that Giuliani called Riemer and demanded that he resign for not showing the cult-like devotion necessary to support Dear Leader. (Note: "cult like" and "Dear Leader" were probably not the words that Giuliani actually used when he was reaming out Riemer.) The following tweet suggests that McDaniel told Giuliani, Ellis, and Trump that she would fire Riemer.

I do not know if Ellis is being truthful when she said that McDaniel told her she would fire Riemer. All I can say is that he is still on the job and Ellis is furious about it. I also know that McDaniel blocked Ellis on Twitter.

And I know that Ellis is celebrating the fact that the hashtag #RonnaMustGo is trending on Twitter.

The Business Insider article notes that an RNC spokesperson denied the accuracy of Wolff's reporting and claims the story is false. However, remember that the story reported that Ellis showed the email in question to Bernard Kerik, and Kerik confirmed Ellis's side of the story with this tweet.

Why The Fight Is Important

At the very least we know that the chief counsel of the RNC has questioned the wisdom of Trump's pushing the Big Lie that the election was stolen. It is possible that he has done this solely because he thinks Republican resources could be better used fighting the Democrats than fighting to reinstall Trump. It is also possible that he looked at the evidence presented by Team Trump to support the claim that Trump won and found it weak. Or he may think the whole thing is a big, heaping pile of pure, unadulterated bullshit. We need to find out just what he thinks, and the Justice Department and the House Committee to investigate the January 6th insurrection should subpoena Riemer to find out what he knows.

And if he does indeed believe that Trump's claim that the election was stolen from him is bogus, he will be joining Trump-appointed Attorney General Bill Barr who LITTERALLY called the claim "bullshit".

And though Chris Krebs, the guy that TRUMP APPOINTED to be the Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, didn't use the word "bullshit" to describe Trump's claim, he did say that thanks to paper ballots that could be used to verify the ballot totals tallied by the voting machines, the 2020 election was the most secure election in American history.

What Will Happen Next

I predict at least one of the following two things that will result from the fallout of the Ellis-McDaniel feud

  1. Trump will fire McDaniel for not firing Riemer.
  2. Trump will be FURIOUS at Ellis for confirming a portion of Michael Wolff's book. He will be especially angered that she drew the public's attention to the fact that the General Counsel of the RNC appears to be questioning his stolen election lie. Do not be surprised if Ellis deletes her tweets or if Trump fires her for making this sorry mess public.
