Is Israel On the Verge of a Civil War?

Submitted by Robin Messing on Mon, 11/02/2015 - 5:14am

Read this very important article in Al-Monitor explaining that the two-state solution is dead and Israel is on the brink of a civil war.

1) In 1967 Israel's Foreign Ministry asked its legal expert, Theodor Meron, whether settling in the "administered territories" would violate international law. He answered that it would violate the Fourth Geneva convention. The Israeli government ignored his top secret memo and allowed--no it encouraged settlements.

2) Netanyahu bragged that he was doing everything he could to kill the Oslo peace process. He also claimed that "America is a thing that can be easily moved."

Now, imagine where Israel would be had it paid attention to Theodor Meron instead of Benjamin Netanyahu. I hate to see the violence.  I hope it stops.  But it is hard to avoid the conclusion that Israel is reaping what it has sown.
