Ben Carson has admitted he has a violent past. On NBC's Meet the Press he said,
As a teenager, I would go after people with rocks, and bricks, and baseball bats, and hammers. And, of course, many people know the story when I was 14 and I tried to stab someone.
Had Carson been a Palestinian child throwing rocks at Israeli soldiers to protest the brutal and illegal occupation, there is a good chance he would have been shot dead. Palestinian children are at risk of being shot even if they are standing too far away from the soldiers for their rocks to have a serious chance of hurting anyone. Does Carson support the IDF when they shoot children for throwing stones? Should the U.S. police seek to do more to emulate their Israeli colleagues and be more ready to shoot children who throw stones? Would the police have been justified if they had shot him when he was a kid?
