Netanyahu: "America is a thing that can be easily moved." (Video)

Submitted by Robin Messing on Mon, 01/20/2014 - 2:50pm

In 2001, Benjamin Netanyahu boasted about how he helped thwart the Oslo Peace Process.  He did not know he was being recorded when this video was made.  Pay especially close attention to 3:56 - 4:08 of the video where he says "America is a thing that can be easily moved."

Update 3/22/15: This Jerusalem Post article gives some background on the above video.  The Post quoted Netanyahu as follows:

“They asked me before the election if I’d honor [the Oslo accords],” he continued. “I said I would, but... I’m going to interpret the accords in such a way that would allow me to put an end to this galloping forward to the ’67 borders. How did we do it? Nobody said what defined military zones were. Defined military zones are security zones; as far as I’m concerned the entire Jordan Valley is a defined military zone. Go argue.” As a result, he bragged, “I de facto put an end to the Oslo Accords.”

Watch the video between 5:12 and 6:45 to verify that he said what the Post says he said.  At 6:45 he actually states "Because at that moment, I actually stopped the Oslo Accord."

Is it any wonder why the Palestinians don't trust him as a negotiating partner?
